Credit Cuisinart for their creativity in combining a blender with a small food processor without sacrificing the performance or features of either one. It’s a great space-saving idea. When you need a blender, just attach the 40-ounce glass blender jar to the touch control motor base. The blender has 7 speeds, including a special ice crush setting and pulse. If a recipe calls for slicing or shredding, simply remove the blender, replace it with the special collar that holds the 3-cup work bowl and cover, and you have a food processor! Included is a chopping blade, and a reversible slicing/shredding disc. An added bonus is having the flexibility to position the food processor with the handle and feed tube facing front, side or rear. All slicing and shredding tests gave perfect results, and even tough jobs like grinding beef cubes or Parmesan cheese were no problem. This machine has some extra amenities, like indicator lights on the control panel pads so you know what functions are operating, a hidden cord storage inside the base, a dripless pouring spout and a feed tube pusher with a built-in liquid dispenser. |

KitchenAid went back to the drawing board on this model and made a good blender even better. First, the 40-ounce glass jar now has a pour spout. The cutting blades were redesigned and operate on four different planes throughout the jar for optimal blending. Finally, to minimize spattering the “Step Start” feature has been added which automatically starts the blender at a lower speed for just a second, then quickly increases to the selected speed. This smooth touch model has five speeds plus pulse. Indicator lights tell you at a glance which pads are activated. Ice crushing can be done on any speed, but stirring the crushed ice once or twice with a spatula is necessary to get the best results. This unit is remarkably quiet even though it has a powerful motor. And because it has a heavy-duty all-metal base, it won’t budge an inch during operation. The newly designed lid forms a strong seal. |
